The MERMAN Firefighter Balaclava is an EN 13911 compliant, double-layer fire-resistant hood designed to protect the head, neck and shoulders during demanding firefighting operations. Its meta-aramid/Nomex construction combines thermal protection with lightweight comfort and flexibility.
The MERMAN Firefighter Balaclava is a double-layer fire-resistant protective hood designed to protect the head, neck and shoulders during professional firefighting and other high-risk operations.
Manufactured from meta-aramid/Nomex fabric and compliant with EN 13911, the balaclava provides reliable protection against flame, heat and burning debris. At the same time, its lightweight and flexible construction helps maintain comfort during demanding operational use.
The extended neck skirt increases coverage around areas that may otherwise remain exposed between the firefighter’s helmet and protective clothing.
The balaclava uses a double-layer construction with both the outer and inner layers manufactured from 220 ± 10 g/m² meta-aramid/Nomex fabric. Nomex sewing thread runs throughout the construction to maintain the protective properties of the hood.
Because the material is inherently flame resistant, it will not drip or melt when exposed to heat. Furthermore, the fabric provides anti-static properties and good resistance to chemicals.
The balaclava has an APTV rating of 25 cal/cm² and a specified maximum temperature of 250°C.
The design provides protective coverage across the head, neck and shoulders. In particular, the extended neck skirt reaches over the shoulders as well as the front and back of the wearer.
As a result, the balaclava helps protect areas between the helmet and firefighter clothing while maintaining the mobility required during firefighting operations.
A large, well-fitted face opening helps the balaclava sit comfortably underneath a firefighter helmet. Meanwhile, flat seam stitching reduces unnecessary bulk and improves comfort during extended use.
The soft construction also supports flexibility and natural head movement. Therefore, firefighters can maintain protective coverage without significantly restricting movement.
Despite weighing only 135 g, the MERMAN Firefighter Balaclava provides excellent resistance to tearing and repeated washing.
Finished edges throughout improve durability, while the inherently flame-resistant construction maintains its protective properties without relying on a surface treatment.

The MERMAN Firefighter Balaclava protects vulnerable areas around the head, neck and shoulders during professional firefighting operations.
Its double-layer construction uses meta-aramid/Nomex fabric on both the inside and outside. In addition, Nomex thread runs throughout the hood, creating a durable protective construction designed for demanding conditions.
The inherently flame-resistant material will not drip or melt under heat exposure. It also provides anti-static properties and good chemical resistance.
For improved coverage, an extended neck skirt protects the shoulders as well as the front and back of the neck. Meanwhile, the large face opening and flat seam construction allow the hood to fit comfortably beneath a firefighter helmet.
At only 135 g, the balaclava remains lightweight and flexible. Nevertheless, it offers excellent resistance to tearing and repeated washing, making it a practical addition to professional firefighter protective equipment.
